Maui Recovery

More than a year has passed since the tragc fires that destroyed much of Lahaina on Aug 8, 2023. Today, the island is on an active path to recovery. Your visit can make a positive impact on this process. Just by coming you help employ locals and sustain local businesses. Maui will recover.

What's open?

While the historic town of Lahaina is still off limits and actively rebuilding, the rest of West Maui from Ka'anapali north to Kapalua and beyond is open and welcoming visitors.

You can safely travel to all open areas of West Maui via the Lahaina Bypass without going through the fire impacted area. Enjoy the world reknowned Ka’anapali Beach, snorkel the crystal-clear reefs of Honolua Bay, drive the scenic highway to Nakalele Blowhole, and explore the many shops and dining along Ka'anapali. Some Lahaina business are also now open and easily reached on your way. They include Old Lahaina Luau, Mala Ocean Tavern, Honu, Star Noodle, Safeway, and Walgreens.

Please visit with understanding and compassion. Do not stop on the bypass road or streets to take pictures. Proceed instead via the bypass past Lahaina Town to the last exit at Kaanapali to enjoy restaurants, beaches, activities and of course our condos at the Mahana. Most of the grocery stores, shops and restaurants at Kaanapali and north to Napili and Kapalua have reopened.
